Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

Most people associate prosthodontic offices with crowns, implants, and smile transformations. What you might find surprising is that a truly comprehensive dental practice also handles the foundation of your oral health through professional cleanings and routine checkups. Dental cleaning in Naples, FL, is something that we take seriously at our preventive dentistry practice, because no cosmetic or restorative work lasts without a healthy foundation first.

At Advanced Prosthodontics and Implants Esthetics, we offer full hygiene services right here in our Naples office. Under the care of Dr. Eugenio Aquino and Dr. Randold Binns, our hygiene appointments are designed to be thorough, comfortable, and informative. Whether you have been a patient for years or are scheduling your first visit with us, our team approaches every cleaning with the same level of detail and care that defines everything we do.

What Happens During a Professional Cleaning?

A routine hygiene appointment covers more than you might think. Your visit begins with a thorough review of your medical and dental history, followed by a careful assessment of your gums, teeth, and supporting structures. We check for any early warning signs of problems that may be developing, including issues that might not yet cause discomfort.

The cleaning itself involves the careful removal of plaque and tartar that has accumulated since your last visit. Even the most committed brushers and flossers leave behind deposits in areas a toothbrush just can’t reach. Our hygienists use precision instruments to safely clear those areas without damaging your enamel or gum tissue.

Advanced Polishing Technology

Once the scaling portion of your cleaning is complete, we use advanced polishing equipment to remove surface stains and leave your teeth smooth and clean. This polishing step does more than improve the appearance of your smile. A smooth tooth surface is harder for new plaque to cling to, which means you leave your appointment with a cleaner slate going forward. Our team stays current with modern hygiene technology, so every step of your visit reflects the quality care our patients have come to expect.

How Often Should You Come In?

For most healthy adults, a cleaning every six months provides the right balance of prevention and early detection. According to the CDC, untreated dental disease costs the U.S. over $45 billion in productivity losses each year. This staggering figure makes the case for consistent, proactive care rather than reactive treatment.

There are certain patients who will benefit from having more frequent visits. If you have a history of gum disease, are managing conditions like diabetes, use tobacco, or have had extensive restorative work, three to four cleanings per year may be more appropriate for your needs. During your appointment, we will talk with you about what frequency makes the most sense given your current oral health status and goals.

The Connection Between Cleanings and Your Overall Health

Routine dental cleanings do much more than keep your smile looking its best. The mouth is closely connected to the rest of your body, and the bacteria responsible for gum disease have been associated with health conditions, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes complications. Catching early-stage gum inflammation during a routine hygiene appointment can stop a problem from progressing into something that affects far more than your teeth.

For those who have invested in dental implants, veneers, crowns, or other restorative work, regular cleanings are essential for protecting that investment. Restorations require the same level of professional maintenance as natural teeth, and in some cases, even more careful attention to the tissues surrounding them. We always treat your hygiene appointments as part of your long-term care strategy.

We Offer Full Hygiene Services Here

One of the most common things we hear from new patients is that they did not realize a prosthodontic practice offered cleanings. We do, and we are glad to be your one-stop destination for both the foundational and advanced sides of dental care. Our dental technology allows us to complete thorough digital assessments alongside your cleaning, giving our doctors a clear picture of your oral health at every visit. You never have to choose between staying with a trusted specialist and keeping up with your preventive care.

Our team also includes Dr. Binns, a surgical prosthodontist whose attention to detail extends to every aspect of patient care, including routine hygiene. When you come in for a cleaning, you benefit from the perspective of a team trained at the highest levels of dental medicine who understand how today’s hygiene appointment directly connects to the longevity of your smile over time.

Guided Biofilm Therapy at Our Naples Office

For patients with implants, crowns, veneers, or other restorations, the standard of hygiene care matters even more than it does for natural teeth alone. That is why our office uses the Airflow Prophylaxis Master by EMS to perform Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT), a clinically advanced cleaning protocol developed in Switzerland that goes well beyond what conventional air polishing delivers. Rather than relying on abrasive pastes or aggressive scaling to address buildup, GBT uses a precision-controlled combination of warm water, air, and fine erythritol powder to gently and thoroughly clear biofilm from tooth surfaces, restoration margins, and areas beneath the gumline that traditional instruments frequently miss.

Patients with sensitivity often find this approach noticeably more comfortable than conventional cleaning, and those with implants benefit from a method specifically designed to clean around implant surfaces without the risk of damage that metal instruments can pose. When your hygiene appointment includes GBT, you are getting a level of thoroughness that directly supports the longevity of both your natural teeth and any restorative work you have invested in.

Schedule Your Dental Cleaning at Advanced Prosthodontics and Implants Esthetics
